Stringbag Coffee

Stringbag Coffee

£7.50Price

The Fairy Swordfish was designed and developed in the 1930's as a torpedo bomber for the Fleet Air Arm. Affectionately nicknamed by her crews as the 'Stringbag' by the advent of the Second World War its design was already out of date.

However, the Stringbag would consistently perform under the most arduous of missions, most notably Taranto Harbour in November 1940 and landing the crippling blow that would see the Bismark disabled allowing for the Royal Navy to finish the job.

Our Stringbag coffee is based on Swordfish W5856, owned and operated by Navy Wings. Currently in the markings of 820 Squadron, the Fleet Air Arm Squadron that was responsible for the attack on the Bismark in 1941.

Stringbag coffee is sourced from Lake Toba, in Northern Sumatra, Indonesia,. The beans are parted from their fruit using the local technique called Giling Basoh, or 'wet grinding' which imparts wonderful earthy tones into the coffee. This helps to create the smoky, spicy aromas.
